An ancient Tuscan estate, a magical place

The history of the Fattoria di Petroio began in the distant 12th century.

1080

For almost 700 years the estate was owned by the Church, under the Diocese of Fiesole. The symbol of the Olivetan monks can still be seen on the main façade of the villa, above the entrance to the small chapel dedicated to San Martino.

1700 – 1800

Over the centuries additions were made to the main Villa, such as the loggia dating to the 19th century and a four-storey wing for agricultural use in the 18th century. For over two centuries, Petroio was the home of two noble Tuscan families: the Anforti, now extinct, and the Sansoni Trombetta.

1958

The Robiglio family bought the Fattoria di Petroio with the idea of giving it a new life, while keeping it perfectly preserved and without distorting its structure and tradition. For many years Petroio remained for the private use of the family.

2003

Fattoria di Petroio opened its doors to all those who want to enjoy an unforgettable experience in Tuscany. Since then, we have had guests from all over the world, but Petroio has always maintained the warmth and atmosphere of a family home.

“Commitment and personal sacrifices are important, but the satisfaction we have every day seeing the place become more and more beautiful is priceless, a source of enormous pride.”

…today

The Fattoria di Petroio has been placed under the supervision of the Superintendency of Fine Arts which, together with the environmental landscape one, guarantees that nothing about this place can ever be changed.
